A Roundtable about Tourism with the Message of Blessed Pope John Paul II

There’ll be a roundtable about tourism to remember the message of Pope John Paul II to the town of Sorrento, during his visit of March 19, 1992, scheduled for April 2 in conference room of Tourist-Information Office Sorrento, with the participation of the Archbishop’s Delegate for Culture and the Cultural Heritage of the Diocese of Sorrento-Castellammare Don Antonio Cioffi, the Mayor of Sorrento Giuseppe Cuomo, the Minister of Tourism of the City of Sorrento Gaetano Milano, the Sorrento Foundation, Federalberghi Sorrentine Peninsula, the Travel Agents Association, Sorrento Coast, the Sorrento Restaurateurs Association, the Ascom Sorrento Confesercenti Sorrento.
The work of the roundtable is to remember the message of Blessed Pope John Paul II and in the spirit of his words addressing the problems of the tourism sector to promote initiatives aimed at improving the reception by setting up a collaboration of the various operators. During the meeting it will open a debate in which you can give your contribution within the limits of what is feasible to be able to present their views and comments.

John Paul II in his uniqueness was also the most famous tourist and welcome of his time. A great traveler and messenger of the Gospel has not spared even to speak of tourism. He did so in particular in Sorrento defining tourist activity “valuable opportunity for human and spiritual maturity”. The roundtable is by Ucsi Campania and is promoted by the Archbishop of Sorrento-Castellammare and the City of Sorrento.

The exhibition “Brotherhoods, Crociferi and Rites of Passion”, which will be held from 17 March to 8 April in the Villa Fiorentino in Sorrento (free admission), spans three centuries of history, offering visitors engravings, watercolors, vintage photos and materials held by the brotherhoods of some countries bordering the Mediterranean, Spain and Italy all. The exhibition, sponsored by the City of Sorrento and the Sorrento Foundation, and curated by Massimo Fiorentino, prior of the local Brotherhood of Santa Monica, offers a special collection of unique material.
“The period of Holy Week in Sorrento is an opportunity to express the highest secure attachment to Christian values and to challenge traditional, solemn and emotional expressions of popular devotion - said the Mayor of Sorrento, Giuseppe Cuomo -. Moments of great mysticism, as that obtained by the slow pace of the hooded men who give life to those processions, conducted with respect to ancient protocols and is able to catalyze the attention of the public drama of the Passion of Christ “.
The exhibition expresses the deep sense of religious rites pertaining to the Christian Easter and always suggestive for their intensity and their spiritual expression.

Wedding Ideas Festival in Sorrento

The arrival of spring is the arrival of the orange blossoms of the Idee Sposi (Wedding Ideas festival) dedicated to the wedding to be held in Sorrento 16 to 18 March 2012 Europa Grand Palace Hotel. Street closed to Amalfi. Alternative public transport

Due to bad weather is again closed by Friday, Februar 4 State Road 163 which connects Sorrento to Amalfi. The rockfall created hardships forced the closure of the middle lane only allowing cars to cross the road compromise point. Sport event MareMonti edition 2012

The half marathon for the year 2012 MareMonti becomes a major sporting event which includes, in addition to the race, a conference and moments dedicated to the Mediterranean diet. MareMonti begins Friday, February 3 at 10am with a show of typical agro-food products set up in Piazza Lauro in Sorrento, which will take place during the preparations for the race. Saturday, February 4 at 5pm will be held in the Council Room of the City of Sorrento on the conference “The Mediterranean diet and sports, a winning choice” that will have as speakers Alfonso Siani and Gianvincenzo Barba, doctors at the CNR Avellino - Institute of Food Science, Stefano Pisani, mayor of Pollica, and Stefano Baldini, the winner of olympic marathon in Athens in 2004 races. In the heart of the race will be Sunday, February 5, when at 7am athletes will gather MareMonti Castellammare in the New Baths of Stabiae to leave at 9am from Castellammare to Sorrento, Piazza Lauro. The exhibition “Canta a Surriento” at Villa Fiorentino

The exhibition, which boasts the collaboration of Radio Rai, proposing an exhibition offers a valuable collection of musical instruments donated by Enrico Salierno to Sorrento and its local Association marquetry. Also on display is memorabilia courtesy of the family of Antonio De Lizza, author of famous tarantella. Have been set up rooms for Sergio Bruni, Salve d’Esposito, the song “Torna a Surriento”, Saltovar, Antonino De Lizza and Enrico Salierno, who had in their lives love and passion for music and Sorrento. You can listen to hits through 4 jukebox such as Back to Surriento, Anema e core and the songs of Sergio Bruni. The exhibition is organized by the Sorrento Foundation, in collaboration with the City of Sorrento, and is curated by the Historical Archives of the Neapolitan Song. The sets were produced by the RAI Center of Naples. The event will be open to the public until March 4, Monday to Friday from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.. Admission is free.

Sorrento, one of the most famous tourist city, comes to new ways of promoting the area with the Sorrento Winter Midi Card, a personal card with which the visitor can have access to discounts and benefits of various kinds, including the special price of hotel rooms and the reduction of price of the taxi ride.

The card is free and you can request it in Federalberghi Sorrento hotels, in Sorrento Foundation, in museums or in the Info Point-Ask me of the Sorrento City. The intent is to improve tourist accommodation involving all sectors concerned with discounts and benefits for those who want to choose the ideal holiday in Sorrento. The card is nominal and only needs to fill out a form to request that uses the name of the owner to the card number. Meeting to Christmas with music, art and food at Suoni Di Vini 2011

After the great success of the first edition, the second edition of Suoni Di Vini (Sounds Of Wine) is scheduled for 7 to 10 December 2011 with four concerts: December 7 Peppe Servillo and the Solis String Quartet performing “Spassiunatamente”, 8 Gianmaria Testa in “Vitamia”, 9 the Mauro Palmas Trio with special guest Elena Ledda in “Il colore del Maestrale”, the 10 Claudio Fabi in “Hermetico”. This will present a preview of a new musical project with which are been cited texts by great poets and writers read by contemporary artists on the meaning of existence that Claudio Fabi as a talent-scout has discovered over the years, including Gianna Nannini, Teresa De Sio, Fabio Concato, to name a few.

The new album by Claudio Fabi music will be launched in January 2012, his first outing but absolute is scheduled on December 10 as the closing concert of Suoni Di Vini event to be held in the Church, Cloister and Institute St. Paul Sorrento. In addition, the festival, which falls in the provision of demonstrations and events M’illumino D’Inverno for the Christmas period Sorrento, also plans, in addition to concerts, art exhibitions and tastings.

There are four exhibitions in the program. Sorrento remembers John Paul II

The man who changed the world, the great, the man who came from far away are just some of the definitions used for the Blessed John Paul II. It ‘been a great traveler, and among its goals is failure to Sorrento, which has honored its presence March 19, 1992, when he was a little’ as a tourist to admire the splendor of the landscape. “While earlier - to John Paul II said during his memorable visit to Sorrento - helicopter admired the beauty of nature, the sky, the sea, the sloping of the hills and the enchanting spectacle offered by all of the Sorrento Peninsula, I came back to mind the words of the Psalmist: ‘Lord, our God, how great is your name in all the earth’. Nearly twenty years from that happy day, especially following his beatification, which has increased the personality, the UCSI Campania held a meeting open to all titled “Sorrento remembers John Paul II” to be held October 1 to 11.30 am in the Villa Florentine, Sorrento, during which he re-read and comment on the speech that the Pope had blessed the people. Speakers at the meeting Don Carmine Giudici, pastor of the Cathedral of Sorrento, Father Giuseppe Russo of the Carmelite community of Sorrento, Sorrento Mayor Giuseppe Cuomo, the city councilor Maria Teresa De Angelis, Donatella Trotta, President UCSI Campania, Claudia Cascone, contact UCSI for the Sorrento Peninsula and the Youth Forum of Sorrento and Sant’Agnello. With the meeting will also inaugurated the photographic exhibition of the same name which will be held from 1 to 9 October again at Villa Fiorentino (opening hours daily from 9 to 13 and from 16 to 20, free admission).
